Volante Films is based on the belief that it’s better to ask forgiveness than permission. We don’t believe in waiting for the big break but in creating it yourself. We’re here to cause the existence of films that make a difference and inspire an audience.

Volante is the Italian word for steering wheel. It also shares the same root as Volare – to fly. Volante is about being in the driver’s seat and getting dreams off the ground.


Creative Director/Producer Heidi Hornbacher

A long-time Italophile, Heidi understands what it is about Italy that gets into people’s hearts. A Boulder native, she is known for her tenacious yet easy-going “we’ll find a way” attitude. Her most recent success includes producing the eye-catching independent thriller, THE COMMUNE.

Heidi wrote and produced interstitial spots for Comedy Central at the dawn of the SOUTH PARK era. Now a graduate of UCLA’s advanced screenwriting program, Heidi went on to co-write and produce PRIMPED starring Vida Guerra, the world’s first reality show for mobile media. Her script for FIXING EMMA recently finished in the top 20 scripts in the 2007 Creative Screenwriting Expo, in the top 25% of the AAA screenwriting contest and was named a quarter finalist in the 2007 Fade In Magazine screenwriting contest.

In addition to her passion for filmmaking, Heidi teaches full-force self defense for IMPACT Personal Safety. When she can find the class space, she also teaches Italian.

Projects for 2008 include finding distribution for THE COMMUNE, directing FIXING EMMA, producing PISTOLERAS, writing PRETEND YOU LOVE EACH OTHER, and selling BEHIND THE THRONE.
